Corinna School Library

Our Vision Statement for the School Library:

Our Library will have a vibrant welcoming environment and be an integral part of every classroom. Resources will be easily accessed and a feeling of ownership by children, teachers and the community will be fostered.

We see the Corinna School Library as a reading and information centre which includes a wide range of media, books, magazines, encyclopedia, online databases, etc. it is an extension of the child’s own classroom.

Our library is staffed by a permanent trained teacher and is open all day.

In the morning children may come as individuals, in small groups, or whole class groups and the Teacher Librarian is there to help them with book choice and research questions and problems.

In the afternoon, classes of children may use the Library under supervision of their own teacher and a school librarian.

By the end of Year 8, children at Corinna School shall be:

  • Choosing to read regularly
  • Comfortable and confident users of a library
  • Skilled gatherer’s and users of information

Parents, Guardians and Families are encouraged to come in and use our library with their children. We have parents who are frequent users and are on our computer system. These parents are able to take out books to read to their children at home. If you would like to make use of this facility please see the Teacher Librarian.
